How to Get Involved With the Linux Foundation
The Linux Foundation is a non-profit technology consortium. It is a combination of the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) and the Free Standards Group. Its mission is to develop and standardize Linux, facilitate its growth, and promote its commercial adoption. For more information about the Linux Foundation, read on. There are several ways to get involved with the foundation. You can donate money online, join the mailing list, and volunteer your time.
OpenDaylight
The open-source networking project OpenDaylight is hosting a developer forum in Amsterdam this September. The event is planned to give developers the opportunity to test the new northbound API and explore how it can be used in real-world use cases. OpenDaylight expects to release Neon sometime in early 2019.
The open-source networking project has been developed by a community of more than 200 developers. Some of the companies involved include Infinera and KEMP Technologies. Infinera specializes in high-speed cloud connectivity, while KEMP focuses on network hardware load balancing. Ultimately, OpenDaylight aims to improve network performance and security. It also hopes to grow its technical community by adding new features to the existing code.
Dronecode
The Linux Foundation and Qualcomm have announced the expansion of their collaboration on the Dronecode project, an open source UAV platform. In addition to adding 27 new members, the group has created three new working groups and collected 51 signatures. The group will work on drone technologies, protocol standards, and hardware/software interfaces. The current focus of Dronecode is on camera and global controls. The project also includes a work group focused on airspace management.
While the open source project Dronecode covers has been developing for a few years, the Linux Foundation has also been actively promoting the development of open source drone platforms. The two organizations aim to make drones more reliable and affordable by collaborating on the projects. While the project may take a long time, it is certainly gaining attention from the drone industry and the open source community. There are a number of benefits to working with an open source drone platform.
AllJoyn
Open source software framework called AllJoyn enables various devices to communicate with each other. For instance, a light bulb can know that no one is inside a room if it detects motion. Other examples of AllJoyn-compatible devices include a motion sensor that tells light bulbs to turn off when no one is in the room. The AllJoyn Linux foundation provides an explanation of its uses.
AllJoyn is sponsored by the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF). The OCF developed a specification for equivalency between AllJoyn and OCF resources. The resulting mapping identifies the equivalent AllJoyn interfaces in OCF Resources. These two standards help device manufacturers to develop applications that can communicate with each other. It also enables interoperable products and services that can be discovered and interacted with.
Core Embedded Linux
The Core Embedded Linux Project is a collaborative effort within the open source community that aims to create a new open platform for embedded devices. The project coordinates technical activities with members of the open source community and employs contractors to work on specific projects. All work produced by the project is released under an open source license. The project organizes annual conferences and sponsors an embedded Linux wiki. This is a list of events held by the Core Embedded Linux Project.
The project is sponsored by the nonprofit Linux Foundation, an organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux. It was started in 2003 as an open-source vendor-neutral place for developers to establish core embedded Linux technologies. Unlike other Linux Foundation projects, the Core Embedded Linux Project is open to any member company of the organization. In the wake of the Heartbleed security scandal, the Linux Foundation announced its Core Infrastructure Initiative to support open-source projects that address critical security issues. Delta Lake is one such project. It brings ACID transactions to Apache Spark(tm).
Yocto Project
The Yocto Project is a collaborative open source project aimed at making Linux operating systems easier to use. It was founded by the Linux Foundation in 2005 and is now a leading open-source project in many fields. Currently, the Yocto Project consists of approximately 7,000 contributors from around the world. This is an impressive list of contributors and demonstrates the breadth and depth of the community. In this article, we’ll explore why the project is so important, as well as what makes it so attractive.
The Linux Foundation has been working on the Yocto Project for over a decade, but the project’s focus is much more than developing an OS. Rather, it aims to simplify the development of custom embedded systems with its new framework and tools. To make the project as widely adopted as possible, it has already become compatible with OpenEmbedded, the build framework for embedded Linux. The two projects will also share governance, making it even easier for developers to contribute code and help the industry grow.
Cloud Foundry
If you’re a developer or DevOps engineer looking to enhance your career prospects, the Cloud Foundry course is the right choice for you. Learn how to build, deploy, and manage cloud-based applications with this comprehensive training course. The course includes extensive hands-on exercises to ensure you have the knowledge to succeed in this career path. The Linux foundation has partnered with industry experts and the Linux kernel community to identify critical skills for the program and developed performance-based exam formats.
There are two versions of the Cloud Foundry Developer exam. A desktop and web-based version is available to test your skills on a virtual platform. Both exams are fully customizable. The practice tests will help you identify weak areas and eliminate any mistakes before the exam. Exam simulation tests are also useful for overcoming test anxiety. You will receive a realistic exam environment that simulates the actual exam situation. A Linux Foundation Cloud Foundry Developer exam is one of the most sought-after certifications.
