Whatsapp Latest Updates: What’s Changing And What’s Not
WhatsApp has decided to dispel any confusion regarding its privacy policy after the instant messaging app lost a huge number of its customers in the last couple of months.
Whatsapp allegedly asked users to share data with Facebook hence the loss of customers.
WhatsApp has time and again reiterated that that personal messages will always be end-to-end encrypted and the company cant read or listen to them.
Zeebiz reports that in a blogpost WhatsApp said:
“Today we’re sharing updated plans for how we’ll ask WhatsApp users to review our terms of service and privacy policy. We previously encountered a great deal of misinformation about this update, and we continue to work hard to clear up any confusion. As a reminder, we’re building new ways to chat or shop with a business on WhatsApp that are entirely optional. Personal messages will always be end-to-end encrypted, so WhatsApp can’t read or listen to them.

If a user chooses to click on ads shown on Facebook/Instagram, it could be used to personalize the ads you see on Facebook, but neither Facebook nor WhatsApp can see the content of any end-to-end encrypted messages.
It has said that support to talk to businesses on WhatsApp will be entirely optional. Users can interact with companies and brands on WhatsApp only if they want and it will not share number of users with any company/brand, it said.
