WhatsApp New Disappearing Messages Feature
WhatsApp is ramping up its safety and privacy features to give users the safest best experience in the instant messaging app.
With end-to-end build in encryption already effected, WhatsApp is looking forward to improving its safety features by adding a Disappearing Messages feature.
Last year, the app announced that WhatsApp beta latest version 2.19.438 for Android will undoubtedly get a Disappearing Messages feature.
The feature was successfully tested earlier this year on beta. And reports are that it can only found in group chats and limited only to chats, not media – at least for now.
Once it has hit the market, the fancy little feature will let you automatically delete messages – group and private – after an hour, a day, a week, a month, or a year.
Though available and tested only on WhatsApp groups, the feature can be set to self destruct messages in five seconds or an hour – all messages disappear just like that. And you cant select individual messages to, or not to self delete.
Notable from the feature is the ability for group admins to select a particular duration for messages on their respective groups. This will make it simpler for admins and group members to control group chats. Old chats would delete themselves, making it easier to navigate the group chat.
From the WABetaInfo’s screenshots, once it hits, accessing it is easy. All you need to do is pull up a WhatsApp group chat or private message, and then tap on the group’s name to open up its options. You’ll see a new Delete messages option after Media visibility, as shown in WABetaInfo’s screenshot.
There is, however, no official announcement date set for the release of this new WhatsApp feature. WhatsApp beta assured its users, like many other ‘cool’ features being released slowly, the Disappearing Messages feature will soon be available for each and every app user.
Amongst many other new cool features, WhatsApp is constantly releasing, WhatsApp dark mode, fingerprint authentification ad Google assistant support features are the most recent to be open to most users.
